The village of Montdoumerc is built on an ancient castrum which developed in concentric fashion around the chateau ( of which no trace remains ) It appears that the tower was built in the 13th century. Beside it a long edifice presents on its façade a series of double bays underlined by a cordon. The first floor of the tower is vaulted. The entrance, at second floor level, gave on to a large platform which constituted the centre of the village and which served as a garden from the end of the middle ages. This garden is enclosed by walls of which certain parts may be the vestiges of the old curtain wall of the chateau.

The church of St Laurent, ( 16th century ) contains the reliquary of Saint Philomène to which major pilgrimages were made until 1961.

The lac de Lartigue which has recently been developed in a little valley affords a very pleasant spot for walks.
