In travelling through the countryside you will notice on your way numerous "gariottes",  these dry-stone constructions were built by shepherds with stones gathered on the spot and served as shelters against inclement weather.

The building techniques used show a perfect understanding of stone.

These gariottes are also known as "cazelles" though there is a difference between the two terms ; a gariotte has a round base and that of a cazelle is generally square.

Many are in excellent condition and you will meet them all along our footpaths.
