The village owes its name to its site, the source of a little river, the Boulou. In this gentle valley the village of Fontanes is proud of its church. |
|
Saint Clair's Church Built towards the end of the 15th century, some alterations made in the 18th century, the building is surprisingly large and its internal architecture of great interest. Its vault is remarkable, composed of two delightful small octagonal cupolas which give the church a special character. In the first bay are to be found bases and keystones dating from 15th century. The retable of the main altar is in polychrome wood and dates from the 18th century. One of the two exterieur lateral porches carries the date 1714 on its facade. |
| Saint Cevet's Church Situated on an isolated hillock 3km from the village the church of St. Cevet, in the form of a latin cross and with ribbed vaults, dominates the surrounding plateau. |
