Aujols is situated about 10 km from the valley of the Lot and St.Cirq Lapopie. Beside the 12th century church are the vestiges of an ancient fortified priory occupied by the Templars.

At the crossroads in the centre of the village is a small lake fed only by rainwater. It is bordered by inclined limestone slabs and once served as a lavoir (a washing-place)
